QUIET RELIEF IN THE MOMENTS THAT MATTER MOST

Juniper Tree is a nonprofit organization currently seeking 501(c)(3) tax‑exempt status. At its heart, Juniper Tree exists to walk alongside people with compassion and practical support as they work toward healing and staying strong in the comfort of their own residence.

The idea for Juniper Tree grew out of years of caring for older adults at home and seeing how food insecurity, utility shutoffs, isolation, and unplanned expenses can quietly undermine health. Juniper Tree was created as a charitable response to those realities — a way to offer practical help, encouragement, and hope when life feels fragile.

Juniper Tree focuses on the everyday barriers that can stand in the way of true healing: groceries when the pantry is bare, help with critical utilities, assistance with medication access, and support for other basic needs that keep people safe and stable at home. Its mission is to provide whole‑person support — mind, body, and spirit — so eligible individuals can recover more safely, regain independence, and remain in the place they know best.

Referrals may come from families, churches, community organizations, or healthcare providers who see someone struggling. Every request is reviewed under Juniper Tree’s own eligibility criteria and funding limits, and assistance is provided only as resources allow. Juniper Tree cannot promise help in every situation, but it is committed to listening carefully, responding thoughtfully, and using its resources to bring quiet relief in the moments that matter most.

About Us

Juniper Tree’s name comes from a quiet moment in Scripture where the prophet Elijah, exhausted and overwhelmed, found rest beneath a juniper tree. There, in his weariness, an angel came to minister to him, offering food, water, and gentle encouragement to keep going. It reminds us that even in our distress, God sees and responds, often through the hands and feet of His people, showing that the deepest healing can begin with simple rest, nourishment, and the quiet assurance that we are not alone.

During her years of in‑home clinical care, our founder Melanie Tims repeatedly saw the heavy toll that financial hardship, isolation, and overwhelming circumstances can take on both physical and emotional well‑being. Those experiences planted the seed for a two‑part response: VitalSigns House Calls, which brings primary and transitional care directly into the home, and Juniper Tree, a separate charitable organization created to help eligible individuals with practical support when financial or life circumstances make it hard to stay stable and well at home.

Juniper Tree’s reach is not limited to people seen through VitalSigns. Churches, senior centers, health care providers, and community members may all refer individuals who appear to be in need. Every request is reviewed under Juniper Tree’s own eligibility criteria, documentation requirements, and funding limits, and assistance is provided only as resources allow. Being a VitalSigns patient is not required to apply, and receiving care from VitalSigns does not guarantee approval of assistance.

As VitalSigns grows, it intends to contribute a portion of its profits, alongside donations from churches, individuals, and other community partners, to help support Juniper Tree’s charitable work. Juniper Tree’s board will oversee how those funds are used to serve the broader community with integrity, transparency, and a focus on those whose health and safety are most at risk.

CLASSES & EDUCATION

Understanding Your Body

Every class is designed to explain complex medical topics in plain, respectful language so patients leave knowing exactly what is happening inside their bodies and how they can partner in their own healing. We seamlessly blend traditional medical science with functional medicine strategies — root-cause thinking, nutrition, movement, stress reduction, and environmental factors — so people receive the best of both worlds.

THE FUTURE OF JUNIPER TREE

Our Vision for Healing

At Juniper Tree, our dream is to offer even more ways for our community to heal — mind, body, and spirit. While we are currently focused on practical financial assistance and free community classes, we look forward to the day when funding allows us to expand into therapeutic services that support the body’s natural ability to repair and thrive.

These future offerings will always be available on a sliding-scale basis so every person can participate, regardless of income.
